4th Line Expansion

TIC was the general contractor for Kennecott’s 4th Line Expansion Project, including the installation of one of the largest mills in the world. TIC performed civil, mechanical, structural steel and piping scopes. Principal areas of construction included grinding, building concrete and mill erection, coarse ore reclaim mechanical, flotation and moly plant mechanical and piping, refinery, filter plant and conveyors.

Technical Details

• Two each 20’ x 30.6’ Boliden-Allis ball mills
• A 36’ x 17’ Boliden-Allis SAG mill with gearless drive, 16,500 hp Siemens variable frequency synchronous motor wrapped around the mill shell
• Moly plant area included setting over 350 pieces of equipment including flotation cells, tanks, pumps, etc. All accomplished while the plant was in operation
• 10,000 cy of concrete and 90,000 lf of piping
